World AIDS Day Awareness Day

World AIDS Day is one of the largest and most publicised global awareness days of the year. Supported by many health and LGTB organisations, World AIDS Day combines health awareness and infection prevention campaigns with promotion of equality, social integration and acceptance and removal of stigma around HIV and AIDS. The official World AIDS Day website run by National AIDS Trust (NAT) states:

World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day and the first one was held in 1988.
